Archives For family

I’ve neglected the blog lately, but I’ve realized that in doing so I’m actually neglecting to share some of my favorite work! If you enjoy seeing more photos, you’re in luck! I’ll be sharing several favorite sessions as I gear up for the busy wedding and engagament season. This session is one of my favorites from the fall, and this family is the best! They are beautiful and authentic, and Nic and feel so blessed to have gotten to know them as friends. I’m thrilled to share some of their gorgeous images with you, and they showcase what I love most about outdoor family sessions.

If you’ve hung around this blog for any time at all, you have probably met my good friend, Chandra (the gal behind C. Jayne Teach) and of course Lincoln! The most recent addition to Chandra’s beautiful family is this sweet little one — baby Stella. She was born in late January, and I was honored to document some of her first days in her home with this family of four. Chandra did a beautiful job with Stella’s nursery, and I love all the sweet, girly details she incorporated! Enjoy this peek into cute baby snuggles and polka dots… some of my very favorite things! 😉

As a creative small business owner, it’s such a blessing to have friends in the industry… those people who get you and what you’re doing. These are the people you ask for advice, who help you bounce around ideas, and who share great tips and tricks. They are your cheerleaders and you get to be theirs! I was all ears when my friend Melissa told me she was launching a new website for her floral design business. I always have a million questions when it comes to these sorts of things! But, I was even more thrilled when she asked if I would work with her on new headshots for the website. I was already loving the gorgeous site she put together, the white space, the clean look, and of course the beautiful florals! It was so much fun to capture some action shots of her working with flowers, as well as a few professional head shots to use. Here are a few favorites from my session with Melissa.

Snow Day!

February 27, 2015 — Leave a comment

We didn’t have a hat that fit, or the matchiest outfit. We did have an inch of snow and a few minutes of sun, so we quickly created a fun little snow day photo session with Rachel (and Bear) yesterday. I’m all in favor of working with what you have and documenting the little moments, because it’s the memories that count. Here are a few favorites from our time in the snow.

Sharing a sweet newborn session today! I am always honored when friends tell their friends about Teasley Photography, and baby Luke’s parents happen to know some great friends of ours! Yay!!! I’ve shared this before, but since becoming a mom, newborn sessions have so much more meaning to me! I loved meeting Luke and his parents (and awesome pups as well). His blue nursery is simple and meaningful with family heirlooms and pieces all around. Enjoy some favorites from our session.

Merry Christmas! We are taking a little break to enjoy some time with family celebrating the birth of our Savior this season! But, while we are away, I wanted to leave you with a few fun images from our trip to a Christmas Tree Farm earlier this season. You’ll notice a couple of hair-in-the-face and tearful real-life images. Let these encourage you that it happens to all of us, even photographers! Enjoy these days with those you love. We hope and pray you have a blessed Christmas season, and we look forward to the exciting family sessions and weddings that the new year will bring!

Did you see yesterday’s Franklin Farm Mini Sessions? More fall mini sessions headed your way! This year I decided to schedule a few “half days” of mini sessions… this way, I did not lose a whole day, but was able to still serve lots of cleints. Also, mini sessions were 15 minutes this year, aside from just a few that went slightly longer. For the most part, that amount of time worked great! There’s usually one or two family members who don’t enjoy having pictures taken, so they may not be able to last for a full session without going crazy. With mini sessions, they are over before you know it! Clients each got 10+ edited images from these sessions, and while mini sessions don’t allow for the candids and laughs we get in a full session, you can see that we managed to get quite a few laughs, giggles, and silly faces. Enjoy some of my personal favorites and highlights from these Brentwood, TN mini sessions in October.

Do you love mini sessions? Would you like to see them offered more during the year? If so, leave a comment and let me know!

This fall… it’s been so crazy and such a blessing! I’m honored that friends and clients entrust me with their family photos. I’ve always said that mini sessions are a great way to get just a few images as a memory of this season in your family’s life. They are perfect for that one Christmas card photo of all your family together, and I am always, always a fan of parents being in photos with their kids. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite images from each of our mini sessions on a farm in Leiper’s Fork, just outside of Franklin, TN. This farm is one of my all-time favorite locations, and I am excited to share even more full sessions from this location in the days ahead! Enjoy these mini session highlights!

I recently shared Wyatt’s First Birthday Party, and at the party, Wyatt’s mom asked me which type of photography was my favorite to capture. I told her that while I truly love weddings and being a part of a couple’s big day most of all, when it comes to families, milestone sessions are my favorite. I love one year portraits and two year portraits because I get to document a little one doing what they do best: playing, laughing, and loving on their family. No, they are not always perfectly behaved, and not every session is easy, but every session is genuine and fun!

I was so excited that following that party conversation, Wyatt’s mom booked a session with me to document him turning one. This was earlier in the fall when mosquitoes were still out and we were all sweating like crazy, but these guys were such troopers! Even Wyatt loved dressing up and playing in the park despite the super warm temps. Here are a few favorites from our session at Ellington Agricultural Center.

Wyatt’s First Birthday Party

December 16, 2014 — 1 Comment

I love being a family photographer and capturing memories of special times in a family’s legacy. The first birthday is such a milestone, and I believe it’s just as much of a “three cheers, we made it 12 months!” for the parents as it is for the little one. Early this fall, Wyatt had a fun sock monkey themed first birthday party in his family’s home! The decorations were perfect and of course he was the cutest little monkey. Be on the lookout for more to come from Wyatt’s one year portrait session!

November 2014 Goals

November 1, 2014 — Leave a comment

Happy November! I love the beautiful season of autumn and all the amazing colors it brings. November is going to be a fun but crazy month around these parts. In just a couple of weeks we will celebrate Rachel’s first birthday and I cannot believe it’s already been nearly a year since God blessed us with the birth of this little one. For this month, I hope to keep the goals simple, but there are quite a few exciting things happening! Here’s to a month of thanksgiving and celebration.

NovemberGoals-1

NOVEMBER GOALS:

  • Photograph lots more beautiful families.
  • Attend a conference for me.
  • Plan and host Rachel’s first birthday party (keeping it small with just family).
  • Host cousins visiting from out of state.
  • Celebrate Thanksgiving with family.
  • Keep a thankfulness journal.
  • Catch up with editing and organizing pictures from Rachel’s first year. Print and archive some favorites.
  • Continue to document our home building adventures.
  • Visit a Christmas Tree Farm

Did you catch one of my favorite recent family sessions and of course Rachel in the Fall?
What about this beautiful Birmingham engagement session?

Rachel in the Fall

October 30, 2014 — 1 Comment

With the leaves changing quite beautifully and the 80 degree temps we’ve had, I decided to take Rachel outside and do a quick little fall shoot before it rained and turned cold. These shots were all taken in Nic’s parents’ back yard and front yard. For any photographers reading this, these first several were shot with the 135L, and the last two were shot with the 35L to show off not only Rachel but the beautiful tree behind her, too! I love the leaves that got stuck in her feet :) aaaaand that I caught her picking her nose! 😉

I’m so excited to share this beautiful fall session with y’all! If there were ever a family session that really showcases my photography style, this would be it. I love everything about this… the neutral colors that allow the family’s faces to shine, the open field, the beautiful light, and of course the fun personalities. Hope you enjoy this one! It was a blast to photograph the Goggans family.TeasleyPhotography_0252.jpg

October 2014 Goals

October 1, 2014 — Leave a comment

Wow! October… such a month of change and crazy. I’m excited about it! Speaking of crazy, things have been a bit crazy around the Teasley casa, or lack there of (wink!) these past few weeks. Keep up with our fun home-building adventures on Instagram! Sorry I missed September, but let’s just say I’m welcoming October like my friend Nancy Ray says 😉 and ready for this new month. God is good and I’m so thankful to see His faithfulness all around me, especially in the craziness of life! I’m trying hard to make more time for things that matter most these days… As I do, I’m humbled daily, remembering my need for a Savior and the importance of stopping, resting, and being utterly dependent on Him!

And then there’s this little one pictured below. She will be one soon, and as hard as it is to believe, it’s amazing that God has brought us this far! Woohoo! 10 months is a fun stage of smiles, giggles, waving, pulling up, and exploring her world!

Rachel-0443

In between caring for her and enjoying family time, goals for October include the following:

  • Break ground on our new home
  • Shoot lots of amazing mini sessions, newborn, engagement, AND family sessions (Can we say, “Busiest month of the year!” ?!?!)
  • Visit Birmingham and Montgomery
  • Speak at a fun conference
  • Break in my brand new camera body
  • Experiment with more film
  • Catch up with Rachel’s pictures from her first year
  • Start to plan a fun and SIMPLE first birthday celebration for Rachel

What are your goals for the month? Would love to hear so share a link to them in the comments!

I’m excited to offer Fall Mini Sessions this year… four dates at four three different locations. Each date has limited availability so book your session now!

Fall Mini Sessions

UPDATE: OCTOBER 26 MINI SESSIONS ARE NOW IN THE NASHVILLE/BRENTWOOD AREA!

FAQs:

What is a mini session? A mini session is 15 to 20-minute session for you and your family at a beautiful time of year. This isn’t a full session, but we will work quickly to get family photos, group shots, individual shots of kids, and whatever else we can squeeze in! You’ll receive 5-10 edited images to download and use as you please. Mini sessions can also easily be gifted to a family member or friend!

How many people can be in my photos? The $95 fee covers up to five family members and/or pets. If you have additional family members, contact me for details before booking.

How do I know if a mini session is right for me? Mini sessions are perfect for those looking for a beautiful Christmas card photo or simply a couple of professional images to document your kids or family at this stage.

What if I don’t think 15 minutes will be enough time for my family? I have a limited number of family portrait sessions still available this fall. Feel free to contact me about scheduling one of these one-hour sessions if you don’t think a mini session is the right fit for your family. With a full session you’ll receive at least 30-40 edited digital images.

What do we do if it rains? Each Tennessee location (Leipers Fork and Nashville/Brentwood) has an alternate rain date. Birmingham sessions are refundable for inclimate weather.

Do I have to pay up front? Yes. You’ll reserve your spot by paying for the time slot you choose. When it’s time for your session, you just show up. No  ATM visits or check writing to remember!

How quickly will I receive my images? I work to deliver mini session images within two weeks of your session.

What should I wear? Jewel tones and earth tones tend to be the most flattering on people. I like to tell families I work with that it’s much better to coordinate than to match. Let’s not be cheesy and all wear the exact same color top and pants, but instead wear colors that compliment one another. Let your personality (and your kids’ personalities) shine. Wear something that’ll make you feel like a million bucks! You can always text me to get opinions on outfits as well. I’m here to help!

Can I bring a prop for my child or a favorite quilt/blanket? Absolutely! This is a quick session, so we may not be able to use all your props, but bring whatever you’d like.

I have more questions. No problem. Simply contact me with your questions!

UPDATE: October 18 and 19 are SOLD OUT, but we still have availability October 26 in NASHVILLE.

Ready to book? CLICK HERE TO BOOK NOW.

Not sure yet? Check out some of the highlights from last fall’s mini sessions!

Welcome to busy season at Teasley Photography! Fall photo shoots are really gearing up, and in between all those sessions, I’m excited to continuing sharing some of the images I captured over the summer. Lincoln turned two in June, and his family had a little surprise to share right around his birthday. Check out some of my favorite images from this session, including his super cute “Big Brother” shirt and their beautiful new home.

Fall is approaching, and I’m excited to think about planning Nashville Fall Mini Sessions and to showcase some of the beautiful people I’ve had the honor of photographing this summer. Get ready, because the blog is back in action with lots of sweet families, gorgeous couples, and oh-so-cute kiddos! I’d love to introduce you to my friend, Kristen and her family. Kristen won a free session here on the blog over a year ago, and after several hilarious failed attempts we finally were able to schedule a session, just before they moved across the pond for six months. Now they are in Cambridge, enjoying city life and the longest winter ever. What a dream it would be to venture over and capture just a simple day in the life of this sweet family… bicycling around town, studying at the library, exploring parks, and enjoying English culture! While I dream, enjoy these summer photos… here are a few favorites from our time together in Birmingham (Alabama, not England! :))

August 2014 Goals

August 1, 2014 — Leave a comment

Happy July, I mean August! I usually work hard to post my goals around the first of the month… but I missed a whole month. July was a whirlwind. Why, you ask? Because this happened…

2014-07-07 14.42.40-2

And getting our home ready to sell involved involved lots and lots of cleaning, de-cluttering (check that off my list for the past few months and months!), painting, cleaning, scrubbing, buying, returning, painting, cleaning, and well, you get the drift! And then our house sold within just a few short days! {Insert plug for our amazing realtor, Alex, of Helton Real Estate Group.}

Meanwhile, we took some engagement photos of a beautiful couple, had some fun summer family photos taken of our little family, went to Mississippi for the family reunion, and so much more. This weekend we are off to visit family and celebrate milestone birthdays, as well as introduce Rachel to a host of extended family and friends. If you think of it, would you pray for me today? I have a bit of anxiety about traveling with an 8-month-old!

So, where does that leave us for August? Here are a few of my goals for the month:

  • Take a trip to California.
  • Pack up our house.
  • Move into the basement.
  • Close on our land and finalize plans for our new home.
  • Take a fun little weekend beach trip with friends! 😀
  • Establish a little bit of a routine in our in-between home.

And I’ll leave you with a few sweet images from our family reunion in Mississippi!

Excited to share these one-year-old photos with you today! Between a beautiful family and some gorgeous light, I can’t ask for a much better opportunity to document this fun milestone. It feels like just yesterday I was photographing Noah’s sweet newborn session.
