Archives For Baby Photography

If you’ve hung around this blog for any time at all, you have probably met my good friend, Chandra (the gal behind C. Jayne Teach) and of course Lincoln! The most recent addition to Chandra’s beautiful family is this sweet little one — baby Stella. She was born in late January, and I was honored to document some of her first days in her home with this family of four. Chandra did a beautiful job with Stella’s nursery, and I love all the sweet, girly details she incorporated! Enjoy this peek into cute baby snuggles and polka dots… some of my very favorite things! 😉

Sharing a sweet newborn session today! I am always honored when friends tell their friends about Teasley Photography, and baby Luke’s parents happen to know some great friends of ours! Yay!!! I’ve shared this before, but since becoming a mom, newborn sessions have so much more meaning to me! I loved meeting Luke and his parents (and awesome pups as well). His blue nursery is simple and meaningful with family heirlooms and pieces all around. Enjoy some favorites from our session.

I recently shared Wyatt’s First Birthday Party, and at the party, Wyatt’s mom asked me which type of photography was my favorite to capture. I told her that while I truly love weddings and being a part of a couple’s big day most of all, when it comes to families, milestone sessions are my favorite. I love one year portraits and two year portraits because I get to document a little one doing what they do best: playing, laughing, and loving on their family. No, they are not always perfectly behaved, and not every session is easy, but every session is genuine and fun!

I was so excited that following that party conversation, Wyatt’s mom booked a session with me to document him turning one. This was earlier in the fall when mosquitoes were still out and we were all sweating like crazy, but these guys were such troopers! Even Wyatt loved dressing up and playing in the park despite the super warm temps. Here are a few favorites from our session at Ellington Agricultural Center.

Rachel in the Fall

October 30, 2014 — 1 Comment

With the leaves changing quite beautifully and the 80 degree temps we’ve had, I decided to take Rachel outside and do a quick little fall shoot before it rained and turned cold. These shots were all taken in Nic’s parents’ back yard and front yard. For any photographers reading this, these first several were shot with the 135L, and the last two were shot with the 35L to show off not only Rachel but the beautiful tree behind her, too! I love the leaves that got stuck in her feet :) aaaaand that I caught her picking her nose! 😉

Adalee | 9 Month Baby Photos

October 14, 2014 — 1 Comment

I have always said that six months is one of my favorite ages, but as Rachel grows, I’m loving months 8, 9, 10, and 11. Each stage seems to get more and more fun! Adalee’s 9-month session was no different. She is adorable, and is always dressed in the sweetest outfits! You’ll see her Bama roots coming out in the precious hounds-tooth dress! Check out a few of my personal favorites from our photo session at Cannonsburgh Village in Murfreesboro.

Welcome to busy season at Teasley Photography! Fall photo shoots are really gearing up, and in between all those sessions, I’m excited to continuing sharing some of the images I captured over the summer. Lincoln turned two in June, and his family had a little surprise to share right around his birthday. Check out some of my favorite images from this session, including his super cute “Big Brother” shirt and their beautiful new home.

Excited to share these one-year-old photos with you today! Between a beautiful family and some gorgeous light, I can’t ask for a much better opportunity to document this fun milestone. It feels like just yesterday I was photographing Noah’s sweet newborn session.

I love shooting newborn sessions at home. I love capturing a few moments of life with a brand new little one. The family may not be frolicking in a field of wild flowers, but I love to capture how siblings interact, how parents love on their little ones, and the sweet details of new babies. Baby June, or “Baby Dune” as big sister calls her, is a sweet little one, just born a few weeks ago. (You may remember Harper’s 2-year photos from a couple of weeks ago.) Check out a few, or maybe a lot, of my favorites from their in-home newborn session with baby June.

I have the cutest little girl to introduce to you today! Oh how excited I am to share this sweet session. Harper turned two a couple months back, and I was honored to have the chance to capture some images of this sweet stage. She is such a fun and silly girl with a big heart. She loves to smile and play. Harper also just met her baby sister only a couple weeks after this shoot, so chances are you’ll get to meet baby June here on the blog very soon!

I can’t believe it’s already time for Anna Claire to turn one! It feels like just yesterday that I was shooting her parents’ maternity session… her newborn photos… and her 6-month session. This little one is such a doll, and her mom has fabulous taste in clothes. Each outfit she picked for this session is just adorable. It’s been a joy to watch Anna Claire grow over the past year. Here are a few favorites from our one-year session.

I’m excited to share another recent newborn session. Gabby Jo’s mom is a sweet friend (who happened to also graciously host my baby shower for Rachel in her home!), and I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph Gabby Jo over the coming year! Rachel will have yet another little friend in her classes at church, and I’m sure at many play groups in the months to come. Gabby Jo has a sweet big sis who helped welcome her, and who you’ll see in several images. Here are some of my favorites from our newborn session in  their home with this very sweet baby! And isn’t her nursery focal wall beautiful?!?!

I’m so excited to share a beautiful little one with you today, along with her adorable nursery. Baby Adalee was welcomed by her parents in November. Since the family did not do formal newborn photos, Kelly and Drew contacted me to do 3-month photos and capture some images of her beautiful grey and white nursery. For our photo shoot, Adalee wore several heirloom pieces including her grandmother’s dress and her mother’s wedding pearls. There’s something extra special about documenting the first year of a little one only a few days younger than Rachel. I’m excited to watch them grow alongside one another this first year! You’ll see I snuck in images of a few of my favorite Alabama details from Adalee’s nursery!

Old Man Winter strikes again! We are stuck inside today trying to stay warm and off the icy Nashville roads. While baby Rachel is napping, I thought I’d share some cute photos of another sweet baby! This little one is past 6 months now… and such a cutie. His smile is contagious and I like to call him a little gymnist with the way he wiggles and rolls around everywhere. :) Here are a few of my favorites from our recent session.

Remember Laney? It’s been so fun to watch this cute little girl grow up over the past year! I have absolutely loved getting to know her and her family. If you’d like to see how she’s grown, check out her newborn session (one of my favorites EVER!) along with her three-month session, six-month shoot, and nine-month shoot! She is such a fun girl to photograph. Here are a few favorites from our Saturday morning together earlier this year.

I’m so excited to feature this little one today! She is growing so fast, but a couple of months ago, we met up for her 6-month photos. Do you remember her adorable newborn shoot? Or maybe her parents’ sweet maternity session before she arrived? Anna Claire is a beautiful little girl and I’m delighted to share these photos with you today!

Rachel | Newborn Session

December 31, 2013 — 1 Comment

Believe it or not, it’s pretty tough to do an actual photo session with your own child. Ask most photographers with kids and they will tell you theirs are the most difficult to shoot, or they don’t photograph them much at all, and let someone else have that task! :) Nic and I decided to give it a go, about a week after Rachel was born. Those first few weeks with a newborn are very hard. Being a mom is by far the hardest thing I have ever done! Being a mom, not sleeping, and trying to organize and shoot while simultaneously trying to calm a crying baby… even tougher! However we had fun, and got some sweet shots of our newborn. Our goal was simply to capture this stage of her life so we can remember. As hard as those days were, I didn’t want to just wish them away and not have any images of our baby being that tiny! Here are a few of my favorites…

It’s been quite a while since I blogged, but things have been far from slow around here! November was an exciting month for us as we waited for and welcomed the newest member of our little Teasley family. She is beautiful and such a blessing. We are honored and humbled that God would allow us to be her parents. I’m already overwhelmed by the privilege and responsibility of raising up this little one and introducing her to God’s great love for her! Here are some images from her arrival, along with a little bit of her birth story. Check back tomorrow for images of a fun little newborn session we did with her at home about a week after her birth.

My due date was November 19, and we were pretty certain I’d go at least that long before giving birth. However, my blood pressure bounced around and was especially high at the doctor’s office (something about that place…) the two or three weeks before, so we were watching it pretty closely. I definitely didn’t want to mess around with high blood pressure! I decided to take some extra time to rest, and stayed home beginning on Monday the 11th, watching my blood pressure several times a day.

After a good report on Tuesday the 12th, we kept waiting. I enjoyed a yummy breakfast-for-dinner thanksgiving meal with our community group, took several long walks, and Thursday morning I sat on the exercise ball at the desk for about an hour while I worked on a few things. Something worked. (I think it was the exercise ball.) Shortly after I got up from the desk, around 11:30am, my water leaked or so I thought. I called the doctor’s office, and they told me to come on in and get checked out. They would verify what had happened, and send me to deliver if it was time. We decided to take our time since I was feeling fine, so Nic and I ran some errands. We picked up our new glasses at the eye doctor, and grabbed Subway for lunch. We came back home to put our hospital bags in the car, and headed for the doctor. I made another quick stop at the chiropractor… if I was going to have this baby today, I wanted my body to be as ready for labor as possible! :) At this point I wasn’t feeling any contractions, just hanging out.

We headed to the doctor around 3pm, and they quickly verified that my water had indeed leaked. Since the doctor’s office is connected to the hospital and they wanted to deliver within 24 hours of my water breaking, one of the nurses escorted me straight over to labor and delivery. They hooked me up to some fluids and let me walk the halls for a little while. I wanted to use as few drugs as possible, so I hoped to help kick start the contractions. This didn’t happen, so they started labor-progressing meds around 7pm. Nic’s mom came by to bring snacks, and my parents came by on their way into town. Nic and I passed the rest of the time by playing Monopoly deal and watching season 4 of Downton Abbey, until the labor just got too rough. Thursday evening, I labored without pain meds for 6 hours. The first 3-4 were fine, but the last 2 were pretty miserable. Contractions were so intense, and I had not progressed much since arriving at the hospital. This was super discouraging. At 1am, after being told it could be another 5-6 hours of these super intense contractions before I was ready to push, I decided to get an epidural. Although it wasn’t what I originally wanted, and this point I knew it was the right decision. They told me to sleep, and I couldn’t, but I did relax… In fact, I was so relaxed that I was ready to push after just one hour! The doctor came in and explained to me what we would do, and then we started pushing. I had 6 cheerleaders (Nic, the doctor, and four nurses… maybe more) counting and yelling and encouraging me. It was crazy! After 45 minutes, and hearing, “you’re almost there,” way too many times, sweet Rachel made her appearance. These are some of the moments that followed, all captured by Nic!
